Many walleyes caught range from three to five pounds and often times over 15 inches long, but Lake Erie walleyes grow even bigger and are quite exciting to catch and eat. The walleye is a slender fish and it's mouth is full of large sharp teeth.
The channel catfish is strong fighting fish. They range from about 2 pounds to 5 pounds. Smooth scaleless body has a forked tail, whisker-like organs around the mouth and a flat head. Excellent table fair. Channel catfish has a very firm texture when fried.
Lake Erie trout are a strain derived from the steelhead of the Pacific Northwest. These fish are "lake run" rainbow trout. They are a species of rainbow trout which lives in Lake Erie during the summer. They're also known for their amazing fighting power and habit of breaking water multiple times after being hooked.
The smallmouth bass is potentially the toughest fighting freshwater fish in North America. They average from one to three pounds and can even be alot bigger.
Lake Erie yellow perch is a slender fish that are about five to nine inches in length. They are yellow in color with black stripes. Travel in schools and if you catch one you might catch more. One of the best eating fish.
A shallow water favorite, the sheephead averages around one to three pounds. Warmer water catches can even be bigger. Large drum are true tackle busting fish.
